Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition (SQL Server Compact Edition) is the rebranding of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Mobile Edition (SQL Server Mobile 3.0) without the desktop restriction.
SQL Server Compact extends the SQL Server Mobile technology by offering a low maintenance, compact embedded database for single-user client applications for all Windows platforms including tablet PCs, pocket PCs, smart phones and desktops. Just as with SQL Server Mobile, SQL Server Compact is a free, easy-to-use, lightweight, and embeddable version of SQL Server 2005 for developing desktop and mobile applications.

Meet the Presenter
Jeff Wharton is WARDY IT Solutions Chief Solutions Architect and has been working in the Information Technology industry since 1992 spending 3 years in the Integration and Configuration of PC’s and networks and 12 years developing/enhancing/upgrading applications using a wide range of Technologies. Jeff is also experienced in System Administration, Project Management, Configuration Management, Application Package and Deployment, Team Leadership and Training Course Development and Delivery. Jeff holds a Masters Degree in Systems Development (.NET Stream) as well as various Microsoft Certifications including MCPD: Enterprise Application Development, MCITP: Database Developer, MCTS: Microsoft Windows Mobile Application Development & Configuration and is also a Microsoft Certified Trainer. Jeff is also in the final stages of completing a Master of Database Design and Management (SQL Server 2005) degree at Charles Sturt University. In his spare time Jeff runs the Canberra SQL Server User Group, Mentors "ITI555 - Operating System Essentials" and “ITI556 – Supporting a Network Infrastructure” for I.T. Masters, and works on his blog.
