Oracle vs. SQL Server - REAL SERVERS, REAL TESTS, NO BULL (FULL)
Author: Greg Linwood Date Posted: 3/07/2008 6:32:34 AM
In this presentation, there are NO SLIDE DECKS (Well, there are some, but just to prove a point).

Two identical boxes,
Two identical databases structures,
Only one winner,
Who will survive?

Instead of the traditional slide show, for this presentation I will be running some interesting problems live in real time across two identical servers, one Oracle and one SQL Server.

You will be able to see the results for yourself and cut through the hype that surrounds these two powerhouses in the database market. (Well that would be in an ideal world)

In actuality I’ll have a reasonable go at giving each database a fair chance at representing themselves at the same problems.

While I know some of you out there will be spluttering into your McCafe’s right about now, and indignantly stating that unless I have used feature X which is only available on database Y, that this test is COMPLETELY BOGUS.

Well you have a wicked good point!

So I’m looking forward to a good night and some spirited discussion.

I have a bunch of prizes to hand out on the night, so it should be fun.
