Introduction to PowerPivot: Self Service BI - 100+ million rows on your desktop

PowerPivot is a new self service BI technology from Microsoft. Since its announcement under the code name of "Project Gemini", it has generated a lot of industry buzz, and in this session we will explore what PowerPivot means for both business users and IT. We will look at the client capabilities of PowerPivot for Microsoft Excel 2010 (including a look at the new DAX language) as well as the collaboration features that are available through Sharepoint 2010. So whether you are interested in BI or if you just have a set of data that you need to analyze - come along and see what PowerPivot has to offer.





Darren Gosbell is a Solution Architect with James & Monroe, a consulting firm whose specialties include the areas of business intelligence, data warehousing and business performance management (BPM). He has over ten years of practical experience in building and implementing data warehousing and business intelligence solutions for some of Australia’s largest corporations. Darren has been awarded as a Microsoft MVP SQL Server since 2006 in recognition of his contribution to the community specially in the areas of Analysis Services and MDX. He lives in Melbourne with his wife and 2 children and enjoys throwing boomerangs when he gets a chance.
