Storage performance and you – The art of benchmarking
How do you benchmark your storage performance?
In this presentation we’ll go through how to use the SQLIO tool to benchmark your storage subsystem performance and how to interpret the results. We’ll also touch on the SQLIOSim tool and discuss how to interact effectively with your storage team to get the best possible results for your SQL Server database.

About the Presenter
Paul McKay is a long time consumer, first time ‘returner’ of the SQL Server community. Nothing really interesting happened with Paul’s career until 10 years ago when he discovered SQL Server. Since then he’s ridden the coat-tails of this great product’s success and had a diverse IT career working in a number of government departments and private industry. In his spare time he worries about getting older and dumber and being an embarrassment to his children.
This is his first presentation for a SQL Server user group.
