Master Data Management (MDM) and Master Data Services (MDS) | Martin Harmelin
Author: Grant Paisley Date Posted: 27/05/2015 10:43:01 PM
Martin is Director of Professional Services at Profisee Australia. The Profisee team developed +EDM, which was acquired by Microsoft in 2007 and became Master Data Services. Martin has worked with these tools since 2005 and his primary focus in recent years has been on master data management implementations in areas ranging across finance, utilities and manufacturing for use in ERP, CRM and advanced analytic applications.

As anyone who has worked in BI knows, one of the initial challenges is often the creation of useful and consistent dimensions for structuring the data for analysis. The same concepts apply to ensuring the structural data elements in the operational systems are clean and consistent. The two aspects are brought together under one roof with master data management. In this session, Martin will present a review of MDM basics – what it is, why you need it and some tips for getting started – followed by a short look at MDS.
