Changes to Backup and Recovery in SQL Server 2005 (August 2004 meeting)

This presentation will highlight the changes and enhancements to backup and recovery in SQL Server 2005 (formerly known as Yukon). New features as well as their practical applications will be covered. This presentation will give DBA's insight into the changes to disaster recovery and high availability and how to leverage these changes in their environments.

Attendees will learn:
o Preparation for changes in backup and recovery in Yukon
o Description of new features and options
o Discussion of how to best leverage new backup/recovery features

Jeff Aven was one of the three original founders of Imceda Software, the developers of SQL LiteSpeed backup for SQL Server. Jeff Aven has over 8 years experience in architecting, optimizing and tuning and administering OLTP systems on SQL Server. He has extensive experience in SQL Server Backup & Recovery and SQL Server Replication. He has had a leading role in some of the higher profile SQL Server projects in Australia.

Jeff has worked closely with leading SQL Server professionals such as Kimberly Tripp, Ron Talmage and Stephen Wynkoop including contributing to the MS Press Book ‘SQL Server 2000 High Availability’ co-authored by Kimberly Tripp. Jeff is an MCSE and MCBDA.
