This month Victor Isakov (MCT, MCDBA, MCSE, MCTS: SQL2005, MCITP:DBA, MCITP:DBD) will present two sessions, namely:
1st Session: Microsoft Learning Offerings for SQL Server 2005
Microsoft Learning has created an extensive set of learning products for SQL Server 2005. In this presentation we will look at the full suite of learning products that are currently available, including skills paths, certifications, and availability dates. We will delve into the rational behind the SQL Server 2005 MSL portfolio design and provide a brief overview of the new MSL certification strategy. And hopefully give some useful tips for passing the exams ;oP
2nd Session: Troubleshooting Performance Problems in Microsoft SQL Server 2005
Before SQL Server 2005 the methodology for troubleshooting SQL Server performance problems were ad hoc and limited in nature. With the release of SQL Server 2005 Microsoft has exposed the server state in queryable format through Dynamic Management Views. In this session we will provide an overview of DMVs before examining how to diagnose and troubleshoot performance problems in SQL 2005 using DMVs, looking at the major subsystems: CPU, Memory, I/O, TempDB and slow running queries.
