The Hobart User Group will be launched on the 27th of November 2007. If you have a genuine interest in SQL Server and wish to learn from others and share your knowledge and experience, you are invited to attend this inaugural event. We are planning a two hour meeting from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm with lunch provided and a chance to network afterwards.
The program will be as follows:
Part 1: 12:30 pm to 1:15 pm.
What can SQL Server 2005 do for you? Peter Ward from WARDY IT Solutions (www.wardyit.com) will explore some of the key features added to SQL Server in 2005 including better XML support, SQL Server Integration Services, SQL Server Analysis Services and SQL Server Reporting Services.
Lunch: 1:15 pm to 1:45 pm.
Lunch will be provided by TMD. During the lunch break, we will ask for your input as to how you want this group to work, and ideas for sessions for next year.
Part 2: 1:45 pm to 2:30 pm.
Although the release of SQL Server 2008 is on the horizon, SQL Server 2005 is by no means forgotten. Additions such as the Data Mining Add-in and Visual Studio Team Edition for Database Professionals allow you to experience some of the features that will be available out of the box with SQL Server 2008 but without the pain of an upgrade and they are available right now. In Part 2 of this session, Peter will walk through some of the new functionality that has been added to SQL Server 2005 since the product was released to manufacture and provide a look at the road ahead to SQL Server 2008.
2:30 pm to 3:00 pm.
Informal time to catch up with others who share a common interest in SQL Server. If you don’t need to get back to work in a hurry, you are welcome to stay back and chat with Peter, myself, and others.
