Maintaining the availability of database services & the data within is becoming one of the most important responsibilities for the modern Database Administrator. Recent releases of SQL Server technology have provided increasingly superior High Availability technologies and SQL Server 2005 will extend these capabilities with a range of new features.
In this presentation, Craig Ryan will present the existing High Availability Options that presently exist in SQL Server 2000 including Log Shipping, Replication & Clustering as well as the new options which will be released with SQL Server 2005 including Database Mirroring (including a demo!). Craig will also discuss how the new features can help you to overcome limitations in the existing SQL Server 2000 technology.
Craig Ryan is the National Manager Database Services with SecureData Group Pty Ltd. Craig has over 7 years experience working with SQL Server in Australia, New Zealand and the UK. Craig has recently moved to Australia from New Zealand where he was the lead consultant for SQL Services Ltd, a dedicated SQL Server DBA & consulting business.
