No, this session does not have anything to do with high fashion or catwalks. This session is an introduction to dimensional modelling and how it applies to Analysis Services. We will introduce what it is, how it’s done and look at the features that Analysis Services provides to support some of the different modelling techniques. The focus of this session will be around the various types of dimension usage in Analysis Services, looking at regular relationships, fact relationships, many-to-many relationships and reference relationships.

Darren Gosbell is a Principal Consultant with James & Monroe, a consulting firm whose specialties include the areas of business intelligence, data warehousing and business performance management (BPM). He has in excess of nine years practical experience in building and implementing data warehousing and business intelligence solutions for some of Australia’s largest corporations.

Darren has been awarded as a Microsoft MVP SQL Server since 2006 in recognition of his contribution to the community specially in the areas of Analysis Services and MDX. He lives in Melbourne with his wife and 2 children and enjoys throwing boomerangs when he gets a chance.
