36 to 6 SQL Servers: Consolidation from the Trenches (Peter Ward)
Author: Shaun Baggett Date Posted: 4/25/2010 10:40:46 AM
In this session you will see some of the tips and tricks learnt from the trenches in consolidating multiple SQL Server instances. Traditionally organisations have continued to increase their SQL Server footprint as they have introduced new technologies to manage business processes. Due to the current economic climate it is becoming harder for organizations to minimize the costs associated with maintaining multiple servers throughout the enterprise. Despite the challenges of tightening budgets, Microsoft SQL Server provides an opportunity to reduce costs through consolidation. This session will demonstrate how SQL Server 2008 and 2008 R2 can be used to assist with consolidating applications from multiple servers without sacrificing the goals of performance and availability.
