That’s right. Stephen Few http://www.perceptualedge.com/, the leading educator and author in data visualisation techniques, will be joining us for the November SQL Server Social event.
However, in order to have Stephen join us, it has meant that we have had to change the date of the event. So, SQL server Social will now be held THIS THURSDAY, 17th November 2011.
Stephen is an incredibly busy individual and travels all over the world enlightening people on data visualisation best practices, so we're privileged that he has agreed to join us.
For those of you who have already registered - if you can still make it, your current registration will still stand. For those of you who can now make it, please head over to
to sign up. Don’t forget, this is a rare opportunity to come and meet, and chat to, one of the leading experts on data visualisation.
What is it?
SQL Server Social is a new event for the SQL Server Community. This month's event has been organised by Luke Hayler (@lukehayler) and Martin Cairney, this networking event will be held on the last Thursday of each month.
What is it about?
The aim of the event is to provide an opportunity for Data professionals to network, share ideas and experiences, have a beer or two, and make some new friends. We will be keeping the format simple; arrive, meet new people, talk 'data'. We may have some hot topic suggestions that will be used to initiate discussions/debates, but the conversations are entirely up to you. You may want to talk about any issues that you may be facing (in your data-related life...), or indeed any solutions that you may have and want to share. The event is open not just to data professionals, but also to anyone looking to get a better understanding of data, databases & BI.
The forthcoming event is to be held on the 17th November 2011 at The Sherlock Holmes Inn, 415 Collins Street, Melbourne, VIC. As it is Movember, we are supporting the campaign by making this event a 'Mo Party', all attendees are encouraged to join the campaign by showing off their Mos. Your Mo can be real or fake (so even the Mo Sistas can participate), and there will be a prize for the best effort.
If you would like to attend the event, please head on over to http://sqlserversocial.eventbrite.com and register. The registration will enable us to keep track of numbers as well as provide you with a free drink on arrival at the event. All the details pertaining to the event are listed on eventbrite, but if you do have any questions about this event, including being a sponsor, please contact Luke (email: email@example.com, twitter: @lukehayler, LinkedIn: http://linkedIn.com/in/lukehayler) or Martin (email:firstname.lastname@example.org, LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/martincairney).
