SQL Server Social is on! After 3 very successful events last year, we are happy to announce that we are looking forward to our first full year of activities. If you've not been keeping up, we now have two sponsors for the event - BizData and LobsterPot Solutions. So food and drink will be provided!
What is SQL Server Social?
SQL Server Social is a new event for the SQL Server Community. This month's event has been organised by Luke Hayler (Blog | @lukehayler) and Martin Cairney. You can read more about SQL Server Social on the new blog sqlserversocial.wordpress.com.
What is it about?
The aim of the event is to provide an opportunity for Data professionals to network, share ideas and experiences, have a beer or two, and make some new friends. We will be keeping the format simple; arrive, meet new people, talk 'data'. We may have some hot topic suggestions that will be used to initiate discussions/debates, but the conversations are entirely up to you. You may want to talk about any issues that you may be facing (in your data-related life...), or indeed any solutions that you may have and want to share. The event is open not just to data professionals, but also to anyone looking to get a better understanding of data, databases & BI.
The next event is to be held on February 1st - not quite a 'January event, but that is how we are counting it - Australia Day got the better of us! The event will be held at The Bull & Bear Pub, 347 Flinder's Lane, Melbourne, VIC. It's going to be a night of activities; pool, darts, Wii/XBox, pinball machine, etc. This will also be the first time that we have had a room all to ourselves, so it will make for easier conversation. Please see Martin's blog post about the upcoming event: http://sqlserversocial.wordpress.com/2012/01/18/sql-server-social-2012/
If you would like to attend the event, please head on over to http://www.eventbrite.com/event/2739535023 and register.
