X-Ray Vision for Your SQL Server Error Logs & Milking the SQL 2012 Standard Edition Cow - Integrating SSRS with Sharepoint 2010 Foundation Edition
Author: Peter Ward Date Posted: 3/1/2012 5:04:22 PM
This month at the QLD SQL Server User Group with have a special double presentation.

Xray Vision for Your SQL Server Error Logs
In the first session we explore the full potential of the SQL Server Error Log. The error log is painful to sift through at best, so we turn to Business Intelligence to provide us with an insightful 30,000 view of the error log, and will be amazed at what we can see ! We will cover how to extract the error log into a SQL Server database, transform this into a dimensional model where we can apply powerful Analytics and Time Intelligence, and provide insightful visualisations of our errors. The demonstration will use the SQL Server 2012 Sharepoint 2010 Performance Point platform to demonstrate how the pillars of Business Intelligence can be used to benefit DBA's specifically.

Milking the SQL 2012 Standard Edition Cow - Integrating SSRS with Sharepoint 2010 Foundation Edition
With SQL 2012 being a significant release for B.I., introducing big changes to the editions and lots of brand new features, the feature comparison by edition can be mind boggling covering new ground not seen in 2008 R2 and earlier. There is a lot of focus on the features offered in the Business Intelligence and Enterprise editions but not a lot on the low end of town. In this session we setup B.I. on an extreme budget - walking through how to integrate SQL 2012 Reporting Services Standard Edition with the shoestring budget Sharepoint 2010 Foundation edition. Sure it would be nice to have Performance Point, Excel Services, SSRS Alerting, PowerView and Fuzzy Transformations but you can visual data in many ways using Standard Edition only features too and still integrate your reports with Sharepoint 2010 Foundation edition document libraries ! Where do I sign up ?!?!
