Azure for SQL Server - Greg Low
Author: Darren Gosbell Date Posted: 6/11/2014 1:06:48 PM
The upcoming availability of Australian Azure datacentres is a game changer. Many SQL Server DBAs and Developers are already feeling a need or desire to consider moving their workloads into Azure, and this is likely to increase significantly when these datacentres come online. Yet many are bewildered by the new styles of services and offerings. Should we be using Azure SQL Database or should we be using VMs? I get the idea of a virtual machine but what's a cloud service? How should drives and networks be configured in these environments? How should you plan for disaster recovery and/or high availability scenarios with Azure? Can I use the same strategies for performance tuning? Can I create hybrid solutions with part on-premises and part in Azure? In this session, Greg will provide a solid grounding in all the core concepts to get you started with SQL Server in an Azure-based environment.
