Azure Data Catalog - Rolf Tesmer
Author: Darren Gosbell Date Posted: 14/06/2016 2:32:27 PM
In the new world of data, technical and business data experts spend more time looking for data than they do making use of it. Azure Data Catalog is an enterprise-wide metadata catalog that makes data asset discovery trivial. It’s a fully managed service (PaaS) that lets any user—from analyst to data scientist to data developer— register, enrich, discover, understand, and consume data sources. The purpose of Azure Data Catalog (ADC) is to create and manage a centrally controlled Azure catalog of the enterprise wide data assets along with their associated metadata. The Azure catalog can then be used by business and technical personal alike to search, discover and locate data relevant to their business requirement without the need to spend hours or days looking for the right people within the business who know where the data is stored, what format it’s in and how to get access to it.

This session will cover;
* Overview – What is Azure Data Catalog (ADC)
* How ADC fits in the Azure Cortana Intelligence suite of services
* Detailed ADC process overview – from deployment, to registration, to search, to consumption
* Demo(s)
- Registering/Publishing data assets – Azure ADC & Click-Once Tools
- Discovering/Searching data assets – Azure ADC
- Enriching data assets – Azure ADC
- Consuming data assets

* Wrap up / Summary / Q&A
