Author: Darren Gosbell Date Posted: 6/20/2016 11:29:19 AM
Compression technologies in SQL Server started with vardecimal in SQL Server 2005. Later 2008 added row and page compression, and 2012 introduced the first use of columnstores. In this session Greg will drill into how row and page compression work, show how to decide when to use each, then look at how columnstores have evolved from 2012, through 2014, and onto SQL Server 2016.
